So, if you happened to turn your TV sets to CNN just after 11pm last night, you would have seen breaking news that O.J. Simpson and his co-defendent were convicted on all counts of armed robbery they faced in Las Vegas. Simpson could get at 15 years, but also up to life in prison.
Here's the funny things though. This conviction came exactly 13 years to the day that he was acquitted in that infamous trial. If that isn't justice, I don't know what is.
Personally, I don't believe he should get life in prison. Simpson is already 61 years old. He's spent the past thirteen years in ridicule, shame, and a constant source of material for the late-night talk show hosts. I mean come on, he was reduced to armed robbery.....for memorabilia of his own storied career, that might have been only worth more money because of the trials 13 years ago.
What was even better about last night was the fact that the news cable news channels only covered his conviction for about 15 minutes - that's it. When I came back from watching another show, they were on to another story. Then this morning, I saw about a 2 minute story about it. It's nice to see the news channels barely even care about this conviction and not giving Simpson any more coverage than he deserves. I say give him about 30-35 years in prison. If he is still alive to make it out, then I'd like to see if the news even remembers him.
