I came across some news of a contest in one my favorite blogs to read. HP is having an amazing contest in which it is giving 50 different blogs each a $6000 computer package. The best part about reading this was getting introduced to other blogs that are participating. Recently I have become a fan of blogs and this was a great way to expand my reading list. This following is my entry for one of those blogs called Living - In Theory. I hope you enjoy.
I have really been trying to help out the two most important women in my life. First there is my mom. For the longest time I have always been the one helping her with anything "techie." I have set up her VCR recordings, I've helped her with the DTV transition, and I've also fixed her laptop many times. Any little thing my mom needs help with I am either in person or on the phone helping.
The other important women in my life is my girlfriend. I have been trying to help her finish up her last year of studying accounting. I try to do whatever I can, especially around finals, which she just had. I did all the cleaning, cooking, and anything else she asked. I just wanted her to study.
But here's where "what" I would do with the HP prize comes in. I would give one of the computers to her. The laptop she has now is very old. I am hoping that with a new computer, she would be able to share in the moments when either my new niece or nephew come into this world. My brother and sister-in-law live in Philadelphia and I don't know how soon we can go there or they come visit us.
For my girlfriend, a new laptop would go a long way in helping her finish up school. Her laptop is also very old and crashes all the time. This puts a lot of stress on her, and she doesn't do as well in class. This would be one less problem for her to worry about.
I would really like to give both of them a nice Christmas, but being laid-off from my first full-time job after graduating from college doesn't help. This would be a great way to give both of them a little magic this holiday season. Hopefully that happens.
Sorry you were laid off your job recently - I wish you much luck in finding a new one! Take care!

I love how you call your mom and your girlfriend the two most important women in your life. And, it shows what a great son and boyfriend you are to want to spread the magic to both of them in this way.

Sorry to hear about the layoff--but there is nothing quite as nice to see as a man honoring women who matter to him. So well done!!! Thanks for sharing so generously!
